Biography

Recognized for her truly professional level of poise, Pianist Yidi Jiao already has gained important prizes in competitions and performed in major concert venues.

At the age of 17, Yidi made her debut at Carnegie Hall for winning the 1st prize at the 2013 Bradshaw & Buono International Piano Competition. In addition, Yidi was the prize winner at Mieczyslaw Munz Scholarship competition in 2017. As a soloist, Pianist Yidi Jiao has appeared with Xiamen Philharmonic Orchestra under conductor Renchang Fu, playing Liszt's Piano concerto No.1.

Highlights of the 2017-2018 season include the appearance in Aspen Music Festival and Holland International Music Sessions. The programs include the Liszt’s Anne de pilgrimage project at the Harris Concert Hall, recitals on a series of Schubert Sonata at Cultuurkoepel, Ruinekerk, Holland. She took additional lessons/masterclasses with Matti Raekallio, Bernd Goezkte, Michel Beroff, Jacques Rouvier, Yohaved Kaplinsky, Anton Nel.

As a Chamber musician, Yidi started working with strings players/ vocalists since high school. She wrote and performed a piece called "chaos" for quintet while in high school. She has done a great exploration of ensembles,such as piano trio, piano duo and wind ensembles. Performing in venues from Shanghai Conservatory Hall to Aspen Music Festival in 2017. In 2019, She performed Beethoven Cello Sonata No.4 in the sonata class at NEC with Cellist Liav Kabrel.

Yidi Jiao’s teaching experiences include the volunteer for “Instrument Petting Zoos” at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center, where she introduced piano to the young audience members. In the summer of 2019, Yidi participated in the Kayserburg competition as a jury member in Huzhou, China.In 2020, Yidi Participated In KEI Art Learning program as teaching assistant of Dr.Matti Raekallio.

Born in Huzhou China, Yidi Jiao began her piano studies at the age of five. She enrolled in the Middle School Affiliated to Shanghai Conservatory of Music in 2010, where she studied with Professor Christopher Zhong and Kuan-wen Wang. Yidi earned her bachelor degree from Manhattan School of Music under Dr. Marc Silverman, where she attended on a full scholarship. Currently, She got her master degree from New England Conservatory, where she studied with Vivian Weilerstein. She is currently a DMA student at Rutgers University and studies with John Perry.

Yidi will perform for a charity concert hosted by Yangtze River Pianos and Shanghai Parsons Music.

Yidi will perform Goldberg-Variationen by Bach,BWV 988 (Excerpts).

Yidi will then perform Fantasia in F minor by Franz Schubert, D.940: I Allegro molto moderato and Ma mère l'Oye by Maurice Ravel four-hand with pianist Yiying Niu.

Yidi performed Beethoven Sonate Nr.21 C-dur op.53 ''Waldstein'': II - Introduzione - Adagio molto and III - Rondo - Allegro moderato - Prestissimo.
